Not right for them to be alerted that they are contributing to duplicate content issues, and to simply disregard it. Mail Chimp, above all ... do no harm.

And, we're staying tuned to see what newletter solution you end up choosing.

Re: BlogAvenger: Does Your Blog Content Need an Avenger?

Interesting review. I use it myself. I've figured out that the plugin tries a variety of methods to find the address to send a DMCA to, not just DNS records, but a lot of servers aren't correctly set up (or are deliberately confused), so the only really effective way to track down the person/company responsible for a box is to use the IP link. This is the one thing scraper sites can't hide - the IP provides an incontrovertible ID, including P.O.C addresses. I asked why they didn't automate THAT and was told it was because ARIN would reject too many queries from their server, and the complexity of the process meant they couldn't implement it on the plugin itself, so the best they could do was offer a link to it. In the 7 dmcas I've filed myself, all but one have received a positive response within 24 hours, and the one that didn't was in China (currently dmca-ing them agiain via Google!). Don't really agree with the image comment either - it does what it says it does, and I find it invaluable - all my images that are getting stolen and 'pinterest'ed are now carrying my blog address, and I'm getting (rather a lot) of traffic from what was once just theft. I have tried turning it off, and the images revert instantly. If, as the owner of this site says, you buy the rights to a lot of images, but don't actually own then, you may find it of limited use (although you could still put a message on there anyway - after all, if you've bought rights to them, you probably have the right to adapt them in that way, if not, don't buy them :) The scraper banning, BTW, stops all those 'autobloggers' who just stick 'autoblogged' or similar on a wordpress blog. Which is the vast majority of them, in my experience (admittedly, my stuff tends to get stolen by 'make money fast' merchants attracted by particular keywords ('dollars'... 'traffic' :-), not people looking to purloin very high quality legal articles such as found on this site...

Re: 5 Free Copyright-Related Steps Every Blogger Should Take Today

I'm not familiar with the CSS code. In this case, it wasn't really practical for me to self-host, I had to make a quick transition away from a FeedBurner-controlled newsletter and MailChimp was the easiest destination. I now have the opportunity to figure out a more permanent solution though so I may take the chance to do exactly as you suggested.

Re: How MailChimp Hurts Their Customers’ SEO

This is one of the reasons I'm not an advocate of letting anyone else handle my content and how it's distributed.. When something like this happens, and it's unfortunate that it happened to you, you have absolutely no real control over the situation or any legal recourse (as I first started reading this, I was wondering why you didn't open up a DMCA can of whoopass until I read further).

Re: 5 Famous Plagiarists: Where Are They Now?

No one plagiarized you. I recently became a Nostalgia Critic fan, and never watched the Tommy Wiseau Show episode until today, I just had to do menial research this to find out what exactly happened and this article, luckily cut down the time I had to waste hunting the info down. This answered everything and is well written. Good Work! (And no, I am just a fan of well written articles, not an English teacher.)

Re: Copyright 2.0 Show – Episode 282 – Meme Battle

Is this the right one?
