Good stuff. I'm going to write a bit about spam and splogs too tonight or later this week. I'll reference your article. Thanks :)

Re: The Economics of Spam Blogging

MacBros,

That was my fault, I grabbed the wrong picture. I wanted the now-famous Adsense check one, where it links to now. I was in a hurry when I was grabbing the links and had forgotten that I had navigated away from the link I wanted.

I agree that spam is by in large a get rich quick scheme, I think the people getting rich are the ones writing the software to maintain the 10,000 blogs. Those apps are fairly simply in nature but cost hundreds of dollars. Seems like a good scheme to me.

Still, some do make a lot of money at spam. It's sad but true.

Spammer:

I don't believe Shoemoney's cash is 100% clean, as I said, he's been called on other questionable tactics but I haven't seen anyone say he's spammed. Perhaps he isn't a saint, but he's not the devil either.

Re: The Economics of Spam Blogging

Yeah I find it humerous that you put Shoemoney's picture up as the clean money :).

Re: The Economics of Spam Blogging

That link you have to the guy standing beside the SUV is fake. Just look at the reflection on the truck. Bad photoshop job.

I honestly can't see these spammers making all that much dough. I couldn't fathom the amount of time it would take out of ones life trying to maintain 10,000 blogs.

Let along trying to convince Google to allow you to place ads on all of them with one account.

I think Spam is just like all the other get rich quick schemes. They're all hype to suck you into spending a couple of bucks on hosting and software, and you don't get what was promised.

The only way a person can get rich quick in this world is either win the lottery, or work hard at something.

But that's just my opinion, and you're entitled to it.
