  • In this video it shows that even in Flickr you can use an image from someone else without permission on a blog (blog this image tab). Isn't that copyright infringement?
  • Depends on who you're talking about. The DMCA provides protection against infringement by users so long as the host does not obtain any direct benefit from the infringement. In the case of Flickr, they do not profit from anyone embedding the image in their blog, in fact, they lose money.

    For Flickr, this isn't a concern, but it is one for the person who uploaded the image. They could still be held liable and, indeed, it is an infringement for them. It's a strange world but the DMCA is specific about when a host is immune from liability and it favors the behavior of Flickr over Photobucket...
